Hi everyone,

I am trying to decide on buying urd maf calibration unit but haven’t received any answers from Gadget nor urdusa yet. Can someone here please explain algorithm how close/open loop programmed on Tacoma 05+ V6 manual?
Example - accelerate gently (30% throttle) to 4500rpm does car operate in close loop only? What factors tell ecu to switch to open loop?
Thanks

You may want to read the U-Tune Guide. It may answer some of the questions you have.

The 1gr seems to switch in to OPEN LOOP based on throttle setting like WOT, or a certain engine load for a given time. It also has a very aggressive enrichment logic based on load and it is not always 14.7:1 AFR in CLOSED LOOP. Under many conditions is a good bit richer as the load increases.

Thanks for an explanation - I did experiment last weekend I drove as smooth as I could to keep in close loop just to check mpg and it was just a little better then usual aggressive driving. I suspected faulty MAF but now as you said ECU tells to run richer then 14.7:1 in close loop. :(
