Getting ready to remove the stock leafs to install my alcans. My question is with the stock bolts that hold the leafs to the stock shackles..do those bolts come out? The head obviously insn't a normal bolt head but there is a nut on the other end. I read somewhere where those bolts are welded on the head side? If so, is it better just to cut them off and use new bolts and or shackles?

PB Blaster or some other penetrating oil soaked into the nuts (spray them several times over a day or so)... the bolts are pressed into one side of the shackle plate (might be welded dunno)... should come off unless you have really bad corrosion and the bolt spins in the plate... Then you may have to cut them off...

Why spend money on new shackle plates and bolts unless there is no chance of reusing them...

Got em out...I had already had them soaking with PB blaster for a day or so but it took a lot more and a lot of pounding from a BFH. Thanks guys for the responses!
