That's why I always recommend just replacing the whole thing.

If it's that hard to get apart, how are you going to be sure you got it back together properly?

Seriously - take the broken one in as a core and get a new halfshaft assembly from Napa, Autozone, Advance, CarQuest, etc. with a lifetime guarantee. You'll be out <$100 for CV's for the rest of your life.
