2nd gen. 4runner.

So were the cv enters the back of the steering knuckel there is a brass bushing that is supposed to fit pretty snug on the cv shaft. It is kinda like a guide bushing to keep it from rattling around i think. Any how i think that it has worn out because of the amount of play that the axle has back there. i can grab that sucker and were it enters the back and rattle it around. Has this happend to anyone els?????

When the bushings got dry it would make a horrible noise when the hubs were locked and in 2WD, made a little less noise when in 4WD, no noise with the hubs unlocked.

I have never heard any rattling since then. Remember, the fron on these trucks is full-floating - all the CV does is transfer power. Also, it's held in the center by either the locking hub or the drive flange.
