Hey Fellas,

Long story short, I havent been driving my tacoma much lately and the battery I had in there is over 5 years old. It died on my brother while he was driving it and it needed to get jumped.

I assumed it was the battery based on the situation and how long i have had the old one. So I went out and ordered an Optima Red Top and installed it last night.

My truck started right up and drove fine, however my scan gauge shows the the battery voltage and it fluctuates slightly from 13.4 to 14.2. If I recall correctly when I was driving my truck on the regular with the old battery it was a steady 14.1.

My question is does this mean my alternator is going out or is it normal for the voltage to fluctuate?

Thanks.
