Some discussion came up about this a few weeks ago, has any more info surfaced?

I've been stalling on a tire purchase waiting to see what the new tire will be like.

Nothing worse then buying something and having a new, better product come out a month later. :D

Haven't heard any news but to add to the nothings worse than stuff. Nothings worst than paying full price and having a product go on clearance soon after.

I think it was in Peterson's that I read the new BFD Mud Terrain wouldn't be introduced until mid 2006 at the earliest.

That is not the tire that is being discussed. The KM has been out for years.

What everyone is talking about is the Krawler spin-off that will be the new Mud-Terrain. It was pictured in a magazine or two due to its appearance at SEMA.

FWIW, Goodyear is coming out with a new tire in the next week or two that does not have steel belts, but teflon. It is supposed to be much lighter and tougher than the old ones.

Yeah, hence me calling it a Krawler spin-off, LOL! J/k

It is aimed to be quiter than the Krawler and last longer, plus it's a radial. If either of those are true, I might make those my next set of tires, after my swap and 36" IROKs of course, LOL.

Nice, now I can't get MT/R's without being worried about something new coming out either.

I went to a Just For Tires a couple days ago. I wanted to compare 276/75's against 285's. One of the tires they pulled out was the new Goodyear. The manager happened to walk by, and jumped on the salesman for taking it out. I guess it is some secret still. the salesman told me it was supposed to come out in March.

This is a new mud and/or "Maximum Traction" tire as Goodyear likes to call it that you are talking about, correct?

Since I'm VERY ready to buy tires this news ticked me off enough to launch a google search for info.

It seems there are 2 updated Goodyears utilizing Kevlar that are coming out for trucks and SUV's but neither is an MT/R replacement.

Found this in Goodyears PressRoom:

SilentArmor

also: more info and a pic of the new Wrangler and Dupont's Press Release

I guess it's possible there is an MT/R update in the near future but if there is they're keeping it quiet.

so is the new BFG MT design going to replace the old one, or will both be available?
