Say this on ebay today, thought about this instead of a deckplate mod. thoughts/opinions?
I will NEVER recommend a K&N filter to anybody. From personal experience I have learned that their filters allow dirt past the filter and into the engine. I replaced mine with an Amsoil filter and I get the same hi-flow performance with no dirt issues. Buy an Amsoil filter instead.

That's odd, I don't see it on their website. So I guess you bolt the adapter to the air box then put the filter on? I don't think there's enough room to do that. I have an Amsoil filter and deckplate and like it a lot. Good luck.

No i think you remove the stock airbox and install the adapter and filter in its place.

I personally have a k&n fipk gen2 kit and ive never had a problem with dirt or sand.I also dyno'd it and saw a 8 1/2 hp gain im very happy with it! i also recently installed the prefilter that k&n put out keeps the filter ten times cleaner than before!!

I believe the K&N that Gadget used was an older type, so I don't know that it can be compared to the Gen II that is for the 01 and newer tacos. According to Bobistheoilguy.com. the K& N filter rated higher than the Amsoil filter. Go to his site & read his tests. I recently took off my FIPK Gen II and went back to the stock airbox with the deckplate mod. For test purposes. Although the K&N is louder...It definately tachs up quicker than the deckplate mod & I also got better MPG. Thats saying somethin... Alot of it has to do with the intake tube I believe...the stock has so many sound damnening holes & ports, to help quiet the incoming air. I just re-installed my K&N FIPK Gen II & am very glad I did. Alot of people on this site are actually Amsoil dealers so their opinions may be a little biased. JMHO. Lets hear it......
