Just got a 2002 4x4 Tacoma...unfortunatly it didn't come with an owners manual.
There is a switch to the right of the dash light dimmer...I have no idea what it does.
It has been in the on position since I bought it....it looks like a radio shack rocker switch 1-on 0-off, but looks factory too...anyone know what it controls?

Also, does anyone know the torque specs of the driveshafts?
TIA

That's where the switch for the rear diff lock would be if it were a TRD model, but they aren't rocker switches (from the factory).

Maybe the truck had aux lights added aftermarket and they pulled the lights, but left you with a mystery switch. If you've got a TRD with the rear locker, turn it off ASAP...

mudferret's right, I have an 02' and it has no rocker switches, try tracing the wires back to see what they are for, maybe an alarm valet or some aux lights like stated above. Or maybe it's a switch that instantly gives you 150 horsepower increase, yea right huh

That is not a factory switch. Check behind the switch and trace any wires back.
The previuos owner might have had some aftermarket fog/driving lights, etc.

Good luck. ;)

Thanks for the replys...
Hmmm...didn't know the CC was not factory...I know it works & I think it lights the "Cruise" indicator light on the dash.
I wonder what else is not factory?..its the SR5 trim package, whatever that includes?

that's a 2002??!?!

I have a 2002 and my cruise control is on the right hand side of the wheel and looks different.

Were there multiple cc models/locations?
That is a real Toyota CC stalk that comes with the kit to retrofit cruise onto trucks that didn't come with it. I've checked with Barb at trdparts4u and she confirmed that it is a real Toyota part. I have the same kit sitting in a box in the garage, but I'm gonna find a tilt column with a "normal" cc stalk before I install mine since I really don't care much for that stalk.

Well I don't think it's factory...haha but seriously thats a switch for aftermarket lights. A buddy of mine had a switch just like that one in the same spot. I almost put my rocker switch there for my lights, but that's what it is. That, or missles behind the headlights :D Your brake and gas pedals are missing too! Maybe that's what it controls...
