Hey guys, just wanted to let everyone know that if you have a Tacoma from either 2002-2004 and have the TRD Off Road package with the rear locker, you probably have a 30 spline pinion gear and yoke.

If you plan on re-gearing, I have been told by Precision Gear themselves that there is NO aftermarket gears for this combination made. You have to get a 27 spline yoke from an earlier Tacoma to make it work.

I ran into this headache as I was trying to regear my Tacoma this weekend. I have a 2003 Tacoma with the off-road package. Here is a link to another guy with the exact same problem as me and he also got a new yoke to make it work.

I hope this saves someone the headache (and the money) that it didn't save me!!!

I dont know crap about this stuff, so is that just a yoke from a diferent diff that is 27 spline with taco bolt pattern?
It is from the pre-taco V6 Toyota trucks. The gears that you got are for a pre-taco V6 Toyota truck and just happens to be the same as TRD e-locker gears accept the spline count on the pinion. I believe that the bolt pattern is different for regular cab to extra cab because of the CV joint on the one and not the other. The yoke that marlin sells is a 27 spline and is made to fit the gears that you bought but they also have both bolt patterns on them so you can use it on an extended cad or regular

That was the case when I went to buy gears for my TRD rear from my '99. Had to use a yoke outta an older toy. And we had to grind some of the bearing dust cap off, too.
