What is the difference between the Alpline (South African) and the TRD supercharger? Some say that they are both the same. Others say they are different. Nothing against South Africa at all, but when I think of performance automotive parts, I don't think of them!

The TRD supercharger is not made in Japan. The blower unit itself is made by Eaton out of Southfield (Detroit) MI and the balance of the kit, castings etc., is made by Magnuson in Ventrua, CA. TRD makes nothing regards the SC but are for all purposes marketing only. The only design influences TRD has mangaged to have have all been bad as they are soley profit motivated.

If anyone wants anything from Alpine, contact URD. We are now an Alpine dealer.

They use Eaton Superchargers and make all thier own castings and such.

The 2.4/2.7 truck superchargers that TRD was selling were made for them by Alpine and now we have them. The rest of the TRD superchargers were made for them by Magnuson.

When properly setup and tuned they run nice.

I installed one of our kits on I think a 2000 2.7. That was a total dog before our kit and it was better afterward with a 2.4" pulley, but not a whole lot. I think that engine was sick. There was oil blowing out of the crank case vent which led me to believe the rings were worn out. Stock it was only doing about 3 PSI. It left here doing about 7 PSI.

Later I tuned another 2.7 with our kit and a 2.4" pulley. Based on my earlier experience I did not expect much, but let me tell you, that was one very fast 4x4. It was snapping my neck on the shifts. This further makes me suspect that the earlier truck had a sick engine.

We have sold a bunch of kits for the 2.4/2.7 supercharged trucks and have been getting very good reports back. So much so we decided to bring on the Alpine product line. I think the Alpine supercharger and our engine management package with a smaller pulley is a very nice combination.

No shit! From speaking with industry experts, TRD-USA's essentially done 0% in the technical development and refinement of the 3.4L supercharger. When something out of the ordinary goes wrong, they don't know shit! In my experience they just relied on replacing parts over and over until they eventually told me they had to permanently remove the TRD components!

Gadget, what is the price for the 2.7 S/C?
I have 150K on my 1998 now, but want to rebuild it up with LCE components and get the s/c!!!
Email URD at [email protected] and inquire about the supercharger and the different packages we offer with it. You can get the supercharger bundled with our performance pulley, performance calibration unit, and fuel system mods, or just the superchager by its self.
