I love the idea of the ashtray mount, but my CB is too wide, and I am already mounting my Sirus radio in that spot. I need ideas, and preferably pictures of other places and ways to mount a CB in a DubCab. Stock console, with stock stereo that will not be replaced for now. Thanks!

please try the search function or expand the section that you just posted in. Plenty of pics have been posted and plenty of comments have been made already. Most pointing to the tranny hump or if you have a center console, to the back of that, or over head on the ceiling or even on the left side, up near the area where your knee is.

I have done some searching, and lately all the talk has been about the ashtray mount. I will keep searching, but haven't seen any other mount locations that seem like they would work. Just hoping to start a thread for non-ashtray mounters. I've seen enough flames on people who didn't search out basic questions to know better than post something w/o checking first.:) Thanks!

In a post about switches, some one posted pics with their switches on the tranny hump. You can kinda see the cb mounted on the passenger side. There has also been a few pics from guys that did it on the roof. I haven't seen pics since we changed to this forum with people that mounted it to the back of the center console. Do you have a 60/40 or buckets?

That would be cool, as I just searched 500 postings and found nothing even remotely helpful. I finally have a morning off tomorrow, and want to get at least one project done. Looks like I will be doing the Sirius first, then the CB maybe next week. I still want to make a bed bar to mount my antenna.

Oh, and my wife got me the $70 Radio Shack one. It has the digital compass, 40 channels, weather stations and all that. I wanted to take it back, but she acted all hurt that I didn't like the gift that she picked out. The things we have to do for our women!

I got the same one. It works great after I had it tuned at a local CB Shop, from 5w to 15w power. Along with a 3' Wilson antenna, and a premium cable, they set me up right.

I would like to get one of those storage bars that go under the sunvisors and put a CB up there. My only real motivation is a tad more storage space and to get my ashtray back for change. So far I haven't found on that is made for the Tacoma.

As for mounting the CB high, a friend of mine just used the CB brackets and some short (1/2") self tapping screws to mount it to the headliner (well actually to the inner sheetmetal above it). It worked really well but it was pretty scary screwing into that and hoping it wouldn't come out on the top of the roof. The big bonus with this is no space used up and the mic cable dangles down like a big rig. Gotta love big rig bling! ;)

OK. I don't get it.

1. LOOK at this smiley. --> ;)
2. Note the wink.
3. Note that it follows the "big rig bling" comment in my original post.
4. Understand the intended humor.
5. If you don't realize by now that I was joking, see #1.

I mounted mine below the radio. It sticks out a bit, but not enough to interfere.
I modified the plastic storage thingy to help hold it in. It's also held to the radio cage by a couple bolts.

Pace Edwards (http://www.pace-edwards.com) makes the 'ShelfIt' - an aluminum shelf unit that attaches via the sunvisor mounts (with the visors then attached to its underside). The ShelfIt is definitely made for the Tacoma. They're sold through a number of retailers, including JC Whitney. If you go searching, be advised they may be listed under different spellings: Shelf It / Shelf-It / ShelfIt .
