NorCal Snow Run - Saturday Dec. 11th

We'll be up in the Eagle Lakes/Fordyce area Saturday. Be at the trailhead by 11AM. The Eagle Lakes exit is about 45 miles east of Auburn on Insterstate 80. There is a gas station one exit east at Cisco Grove.

Exit on Eagle Lakes road, turn left and drive under the freeway. Follow the pavement for less than a mile and look on the north side of the road for the trailhead that leads to the staging area. It should be pretty obvious from tracks in the snow.

Please make sure to bring proper snow gear, everyone should have a strap and a shovel. Plan on getting stuck a few times.

So what would you call proper snow gear? Just a strap and shovel and the usual recover gear? What special stuff should I carry when I hit the snow?

im bring :
strap
shovel
enouff food/water for couple days
the usuall spare parts/ fluids
extra fuel for my propane stove
lots of warm clothing
extra gas

and wood

looks like snutty will be leaving in the evening after work. u should try to get up that night. u know u dont wanna do all that driving in the morning when u can chill in the snow! shit ill even cook up breakfast!!!

as for the camp spot, not quite sure yet, ill see what mike recommends... i know that we can camp around the trailhead... may just see how far i can get my shit into the woods, then setup camp till someone comes to pull me out

Sweet. Me and another guy are gonna camp saturday for sure, plus Dean I think. Hope we have enough wood, it's gonna be cold!
