I was wondering if an Ohio chapter was in the works at all ... I know that if there was one I'd join at the drop of a hat.

*side note* i couldn't decide where this thread should go ... so if there is a more appropriate place please relocate this for me or let me know and i'll take care of it.

thats definitely an option ... i suppose i'm just looking for a more local group but if one never gets off the ground i suppose i can hookup with a neighboring state.

Yeah Im from ohio to and would love to have a Ohio chapter but join Ky it is a good chapter.Where in Ohio are you from?
Columbus ... equally far from all neighboring chapters :) I have a bunch of friends that live up in Toledo now so if nobody wants to start an Ohio chapter i might become a member of the Michigan one since i'll be up north more often.

Thats the thing, I'm brand spankin new to off-roading and Tacos so I would like to see a local chapter partly so I can get personally aquainted with others who are already experienced, and those who are new like me so we can learn together. While I am n00bish to off-road, I'm more than capable of handling other aspects of organizations, and am always willing to help out in anyway I can.

At present, I believe your nearest bet for a TTORA chapter is Kentucky. I am in Indianapolis and am working on restarting our chapter here. I also know of a person that is going to school or working in Texas but is from Ohio so hopefully he will see this thread and chime in on your possibilities as he has been with the club for a while. He gave me a lot of good information about this area, before I moved up here from the Lone Star state.

I have been part of the club for the last 5 years, so if there is anything I can do help, let me know. If you are wanting to just get offroad and feel like a road trip let me know that as well. I am sure we can explore the Badlands here in Indiana together, as well as other areas around us. Although I am not new to offroading, I am new to this area. But I might be able to give you a pointer or two if need be with your learning curve.

The main thing to remember is to "tread lightly" so that you will be able to enjoy the experience for many years to come.

Yea, as stated before. come hang out with the ky chapter for the time being. www.kyttora.com get on the forum as well... we are still kind of struggling to get more active, just the few members that come around seem to always have something going on and just a few are able to make it to runs. i know we are pretty far from u but there are a couple buckeyes that have made it down here. it would also give u a good starting point at locating some of the ohio guys.

Lets just say attendence is not a strong area right now. First trip, only the three officers, and Jamie (new guy kinda stock but still kicked ass for showin in 10 degree weather) came - last trip only two came, but one was actually on the way as we left. Sad part? Same three guys, myself the Pres., Jeff the vice pres, and Hagan the events coordinator.

So only us "officers" and Jamie have gone wheelin so far this year as far as I know. Some guys might be offroading with other groups but I haven't read any posts about it. If you wanna come runnin with us it would be great - there are more places around than I used to think and it would be great to meet some more offroadin toyota guys. Stop by and sign up for the forum and post up about wheelin, usually some of us can go spur of the moment - and Hagan is dyin to get some wheelin time in now that hes back from Satan's Asshole (Afghanistan).

And Jeff, you took off your shopping cart deflectors, update your sig ya poser! :xmoon: lol

There were a few guys around Cincinnati that got together from time to time, but I haven't heard from any of them in a while. I will see if I can dig up some old information about them to share.

Hey, that's okay though. It starts with a few. I find with our club that once a person gets out on the trails and has a good time, they are more likely to be active. Our challenge is getting them to visit the forum board where we post our last minute let's go off roading trail run information.

We have the most success with phone calls to guys we met at meet n greets who want to go wheeling. Even if they can't go this trip, they know we are thinking about them and they are welcome to join us.

I talked with an older guy in the parking lot last week for several minutes. He has a stock dcab and is interested in trying the easy trails around here. I think it's cool we have a wide range of abilities and vehicles.

It's about meeting people...and we're all quirky in our own way!

Hey, can someone bring me another cup of coffee?

They are most all in the KYTTORA, I know David Santel the most active member of the group sold his truck, it ended up in Missouri I think. Otherwise the guys check in everynow and then but don't really do much anymore.

Join the Ky chapter. Everybody is cool there. I live in Middletown and you're welcome to come down whenever. I haven't been wheeling much lately, getting ready to regear and saving some money so wheeling has taken a hit. I did quit my second job so wheeling trips are certainly on my list of things to do.
