Who makes the Toyota Brand Synthetic Oil? Is it mobil? I know Toyota was using it as their synthetic a while back and was just wondering if they got mobil to put it in a black bottle and slap a Toyota label on it. I had the dealer do the first oil change on my 05 a month ago and got "Toyota synthetic" put in. I asked the service lady if she knew who supplies Toyota with the oil but of course she had no clue. I do my own oil changes in the warm months but winters are hell where I live and don't have a garage big enough to fit my truck in.(Single car). Thanks for any info.

I ran Royal Purple full synthetic but it is hard to find so I switched to Mobil 1 full synthetic. I would go w/M1 unless you feel that you have to run "Toyota" oil.

Disregard my initial question I found the answer. Exxon Mobil does provide Toyota with it's oils.

you can get royal purple on ebay pretty cheap by the case. i haven't checked in a while but that's where i got mine for around $5-$6 a quart IIRC.
