So my Mom has a 06 Jeep Commander. The driver side front door panel has an issue. The actual door handle on the inside is attached to the door panel. In other words the handle has a pivot point when pulled, and that pivot point was molded into the door panel. The plastic part that holds the handle in place has broken off, so from looking at it it appears that the entire inside door panel has to be replaced because this plastic piece has broken off. She can still open the door, but the handle is sloppy and flops around. It is very odd to see a design like this. It is also very frustrating to have to replace the entire door panel because of that one tiny piece of plastic. Anyone got an idea of where to start looking for a reasonably priced replacement? The dealer wants about $1000 to replace it. She is past her warranty.
