Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone knows if they make power pulleys for the Tacoma? I looked and didn't see any threads about power pulleys. Do they exist? Or, is there a serpentine belt system? Any info would be great.

Thanks

what if he is looking to build up an off-road racing truck ... then power pulleys could help him out if i understand their purpose correctly and it would still be for off-road use ... just playing the other side here.

and as for your question Plasstik -- i have no idea if they make production power pulleys for tacomas, i've never seen them but i have not looked for them... i suppose if you really want some you could get in contact with an engineering firm and discuss it with them.

Please tell me how underdriving an alternator with all the lights on an off road racing truck is gonna be a good thing. Why don't you just reply to him and tell him what he wants to know if you think it's such a great idea for an off road truck.

hey now ... i didn't claim to know everything about power pulleys ... i know what i've been told in passing ... that they increase performance ... how they do it i don't know, nor do i paticularly care at this junction. tell me where i said its a great idea ... i respect your knowledge man, don't get me wrong ... and if power pulleys do what you're saying then you're right ... but i never said it was a great idea ... i just told him that no i've never seen them before for the tacoma and that he can just get in contact with some engineers if he is really interested and discuss it with them. in the future i'll just pm people in situations like this i guess to avoid insulting you're sensibilites :D .

btw i appreciate you posting why its a bad idea ... i had no idea and now i do ... so thank you, sincerely.

I pretty thick skinned, gotta be the way I dish it out once in a while, so don't worry about me.
The way they work is to reduce the pulley ratio and slow down the alternator, water pump, PS pump and AC if ya got one. That is just exactly what you don't want to do for off roading. If anything, you'd want to go the other way.

thanks man ... learn something new everyday

i know i'm going to post some thoughts that are probably wrong ... i'm fresh out the box to off-roading ... and i really appreciate when i'm corrected with the correct information. helps me out as opposed to just being called a n00b, tell me something i don't know. :D
