Does anyone have any sort of setup for carrying extra people in the bed - mostly I was thinking is someone had a cap - having a removeble bolt in bench or something....

is this just insane or do some people actually have seats/seating rigged into their pickup beds? :welder: :xdevil:

I use a Suburban 3rd row weighs enough to stay and fits perfect.

The 1st gen 4runner was essentially a glorified pickup with seats bolted in the bed as far as I'm concerned :flipoff1:
That's nice. As far as I'm concerned, the idea is beyond moronic. Hope you have good insurance. Your passengers will likely end up needing it.

I put a suburban seat in my bed once just to go on the beach with. You could use a seat and bolt it in (I have a van seat in my garage that would work, most will) but it will be very dangerous in an accident. I would contact my insurance agenct before doing anything as well as the DMV to make sure it is legal. Either way, I would be dangerous in an accident because there is no side padding. If you have a cap, imagin if is came loose in an accident with people back there. Sacary

We used to use it for sleeping on but then I built a deck like the one in Bajataco's rig and I put the seat back in the Suburabn where it goes ..... I could put it in my Scout I guess..

Reminds me of the Subaru Brats. Those seats were really safe though, they had those "Oh $hit" handles. LOL!
Back 15 years ago when I had my first 84 toyota I had a pair of subaru brat seats in the bed. But that was a different time, fewer lawyers, fewer seat belt laws, etc. They were great to get a few extra people in the back to go out four wheeling. Then a couple years later I got an 86 4runner. People loved that, a back seat, and they didn't have to get wet unless the top was off.

Ok, Ok maybe its a terrible idea -
but what I am asking is if anyone has DONE IT :xsmokin1:
Don't know... This question comes up on one or another Taco forum about once every 6 months. I'm not aware of anyone having actually gone out and done it ...

If it were me (that wanted such a thing...), I'd be looking for some Brat seats and checking my local / state laws...

That would be an especially pretty accident scene. I say go for it. Don't worry about bolting anything down.... just use velcro. Makes installing and removing it much quicker and easier.
if you dont have anything useful to say then dont bother posting.

im sure it can be done and have seen it plenty of times. but to decrease your possibilities of an injury, you want to make sure the seat is mounted firmly to a strong spot, add seatbelts, and preferably a roll cage.
