I followed this write up http://www.yotatech.com/~corey/tech/jackson_breather/breather.htm and added a little impovement. I removed the plastic piece that surrounds the filler neck (black thing in the pic) and drilled a 3/8" hole in it near the filler neck, pushed the breather plug through it and pushed the hose onto it and hoseclamped it in place. Screwed it back in, and viola, a TOTALLY protected breather plug.

Will the fumes from the gas up affect this mount in anyway? I snaked mine up under the wheel well between the metal and the plastic? cover under the wheel well.

That's where the article tells you they placed the breather, in the filler area. I'm just getting my 1 post/month, not picking on you.

I just did this mod as well since the last few times I've been offroad I travesed some deep water. The first time was at Lake Powell launching the SeaDoo's. Damn near had my bed in the water. The last two times was Charalou Gap here near Tucson. I ran the hose to my engine compartment and put a Fram fuel filter on the end for a true open breather. Others on here have suggested the same thing.

Seems kinda odd 2 people from the desert doing this mod. We should be doing catcus needle tire mods or something.

I'm not from here, and I'm headed to Seattle in 7 weeks. ;)

And that article did put in near the filler, mine is just a cleaner excecution of it.

And I was careful to chose a location that it wouldn't hit, and my truck doesn't have the locking fuel door (which is see as a double edged sword).

Is fuel line a standard size? If not, what size should I get for this?

Ok... so I just got the parts for this. I ordered the breather plug and union fitting from the stealership... then swung by Checker and got 6ft of fuel line and some hose clamps. The only 1/4 inch line they had was some high pressure line, or so they said. It's pretty thick. And it was a little more money then the standard stuff (I paid 14$ for 6ft.) I was too lazy to go somewhere else, so I just bought it. If it really is high pressure line, and is thicker then regular line, it won't make a difference, will it?

No difference. The thicker stuff just made it harder for me to route. It was all wound up and hard to keep unwound.

Yeah... saw that after I posted. :p

In some write-ups, the union is listed as 90404-51319. And in others it's listed as 90404-51026. Is there a difference?

I believe one is straight and the other has a right angle to it.

FYI - I just bought the "Union Fitting" yesterday from my local Toyota Dealership (90404-51026) and the total cost was $7.60 (w/ CA sales tax).

The mod took me about 15 minutes. I ran it in to my gas door like in Anestech*s pic above.
