thought it was a bad tire so changes tires and wheels. still make a low howl from rear drivers side like a bearing or something?? dont think its the u joint? any help.

It's really easy to slide the axle out and take a peek at the bearing.

noise

seems to be all the time and is less on the highway? i will take a look at the rear bearings are they easy to do or do they need pressing like the fronts?

If it's happening all the time, a wheel bearing is not likely. More likely to be a carrier bearing on pinion bearing, or the gears themselves.

Check for play in the driveshaft where it meets the rear axle.

Also, grab each of the rear tires at 12 and 6 o'clock and give them a solid back-and-forth shake. No play, the wheel bearings are fine.
