Doing the ring gear is not a problem.

The pinon gear is a pain and you need specialized tools and presses to set it up properly with the needed shims and such. This is one of those jobs that is best left to someone that has a good bit of experience and the proper tools to do the job.

You can pull the diffs and deliver them to the shop. That will save you a lot of money.

A kid at work had the rear of his Trans Am re-geared by a non-reputable shop and apparently they did not shim it properly (or did not shim it at all) and it blew up on him. It has to be shimmed by a trained set of hands to ensure that the contact area between the gears is adequate.
