I wanted to hear some opinions on remote start systems. I dont have power windows or power locks so, a fancy alarm with all the bells and whistles isn't really what I'm looking for. Any sugg's?

I have remote start on my truck. I have a viper system. I love being able to start my truck from inside the house on cold mornings. Plus I like being able to give my motor a chance to warm up before I drive.
I haven't been wheeling yet since I got it but I dont think there is too much to worry about. The only thing uder the hood is a couple of wire going to the igniter and the speaker for the alarm.

If your going to put it in yourself look for a BOA its made buy DEI and in that line you can buy a remote start with out keyless or a alarm

i love mine, its by Viper, bought and installed for 150 which included them adding keyless entry to my electric locks. (truck didnt come with keyless)

Anyone out there got one on a 5-speed... I know factory says not to put one on, but whats the real danger? just be sure you don't park in gear right? The truck has a "clutch start cancel" that i can wire into np.

Do a quick little search on here and on the old forum and youll find all the information that you have ever wanted. There are actually systems out now for 5 speeds. Something about shutting it down in a certain order or turning it off with the remote..... something like that.
