My 1998 V6 4x4 tacoma will not start. It will crank but not start. I towed it into the shop and they said my ec(computer) had gone bad because they were not getting any signal on their diagnostic system. I found a rebuilt ec and replaced it and still can not get the truck to start. I thought I may be a fuel related problem at first, so I replaced the fuel filter and the fuel pump seems to be working ok. Any suggestions?

If your check engine light does not come on when you turn the key on, check the EFI fuse under the hood near the battery.

how much did a used ECU cost?

$550.00 plus $20.00 core. Dealership wanted $1100.00 for a rebuilt ecu.

Went to start it last night and it turned right over. Weird. I did check the efi fuse it seemed to be ok.

why did you have to replace the ECU?
