Hey Tacoma Guru's. I have a 99 2.7 5speed Ext Cab 4x4 with the TRD package on it. I currently have 106K on it and I am needing to FINALLY replace my factory shocks that came on the truck.

Anyone recommend a good replacement shock? I will admit it sees mostly Urban asphalt terrain. But there is this one road on the way to work that i would really like to tackle....

I know when I do hit a road the truck "dances" and it leans a bit going into corners so I feel they need it.

I would prefer to buy them from sponsor here on this board since I am a lurker.

Thanks guys...

ps. And yes I do have a 97 Camaro SS that sees high speed open track events...But I have found out its not very good going through ruts and holes when I do off track excursions...hahaha

I need to replace all 4 shocks....after reading that Donahoe Racing post....I need to get a some of those and win that ride in the Race truck!!! Talk about cool....

But I am looking for a good long lasting shock. I have thought about lifting it, putting a header/cat-back on it, a snorkle intake too....among others...I think there is a member here that has what I want if I can do it all.. But I use my truck as my year round any weather vehicle....Hence a good replacement shock that has good ride and handling aspects yet good suspension dampening when/if I decide to try my hand at off road stuff. (which my wife wants to do..go figure...)

well...coilovers would do the job IMO...they handle great off-road and on road...that's just the front...and maybe the new donahoe rear shocks!! i would love to get one of those....

you need to list what you exactly want to do with ur truck?
do you want to just place the shocks so you can drive it around everyday?
or do you want to drive it and go off-road once in a while?

how much of lift do you want if you want any...
stuff like that...

THanks for Responding.

WHat I am looking for is a good riding truck and I can take off road if I want too, but has to have good handling characteristics for everyday use.

I was thinking of a mild lift and I see the Donahoe's have a 3" lift if that is right. I use my truck for camping as well (i have a Leer Cap on it) so I would imagine if I had more of an off road setup I could go deeper into the woods and still have fun.

I drive the truck now about 10-12K a year. Its an all year around vehicle as I mentioned. And I take it everywhere. I was thinking of putting a helper spring in the rear too to handle to extra camping gear I take as I am loaded for 3 days...

I saw a suspension setup of NWOR's website but I haven't seen anyone with this system here. I want to put a brush guard on the front too so the front has to handle the added weight. (Not a 200lb ARB front bumper but a decent brush guard.)

I guess what I am looking for is a stance like the 4" Procomp setup.

I have a pair of the tokico (non-trd) front struts you can have for $20+ ship. They have about 6,000 miles on them.
