Hey man i feel your pain. I'm from ks, and a week ago i got down and really looked at my paint and it lookedlike someone oversprayed orange spray paint all over it. What i did was take a high speed orbital buffer and some compound and polish it up and it sure enough took them out of there. Then I did Meguires steps 1-3 wax/polish to prolong the rust for a while. I think my problem is my 12.5" wide tires stick out so damn much and i dont have flares or mudflaps so it just kicks up everything. Anyways good luck man.

I live in Michigan also & all I can say is to hit one of those big automatic car washes every week or so. The ones that spray the underbody and everything. Around here there are some goods ones named Americas Finest Car wash.
When I got my truck I painted the backside of my bumpers with some rust preventative paint, dont know if it did a thing but it made me feel alittle better.

Im near Detroit, if you guys ever want to put together a little wheeling trip...not that there alot of places around here... let me know .

I.m assuming by orange you mean rusty. You can hit it with a good wire brush attachment to get the rust off. you'll probably notice that the metal is pitted from the rust. The better you remove it the longer it will last. The rust is on the surface, if it were to be through the frame it would be structurally unsound and probably would have broke already. Think of when they restore old cars. They strip it down to shiny metal and repaint it. Paint wont stick to rust for long so the more time you spend now, the less youll spend later. Be prepared to spend some money on a good strong air tool or drill wire brush. It could take many hours but it could the motor if done proper.

I am in Ohio so we get just as much salt dumped on the roads here. For surfaces that arent painted, I use a product called POR15. I did my front skid plate with it and it came out perfect, It has held up without so much as a chip this winter. For the chrome bumper you can do the inside of the bumper with it but on the outside you need to use some coca cola. and rub it with aluminum foil. Viola perfect bumper again. Try on of the por15 kits that come with everything, its only like 15.00 and you can test it out. Kit doesnt cover much but itll give u an idea how it works.

I restore cars and I've used the POR-15 as well on many frames and the underneath of bodies and it seems to work great. Make sure the metal is prepped to the instructions before you use it. It also has great coverage. If you put it anywhere where it's going to get a lot of sun, make sure you top coat it or it will fade. Also another great aspect is you can brush it on.
