A friend of mine has an 07 Tacoma that he has serviced by a local shop rather than a dealer. The truck just hit 5000 miles and a "service light" has appeared on the dashboard display. Is there any way to shut this light off without going to the dealer?. My truck will soon have this problem, please help.

It's in your owner's manual.

But I'm feeling helpful tonight.

Turn ignition on.

Push mode button until it's on "Odometer" and showing total miles.

Turn ignition off.

Push mode button and hold.

While the mode button is held down, turn ignition on. (Don't start motor, just turn key until dash lights up)

Will come on with dashes in the place where the mileage usually shows.

Hold mode button down until all dashes have gone away. Takes a few seconds.

When all dashes are gone, oil change light is reset to five thousand miles.

Let go of mode button and turn key off.

Don't forget to change the oil.
