What mods do I need to do to my manual shifter if I get a 2" BL? I remember there being a thread about them but I can't find it. Something about the stick hitting the plastic base thing around the shifter...? Thanks.

Not sure about a 2" BL,I have a 3" and had to cut my shifters and weld exstension on them. I just really wanted to reply to try and talk you out of the body lift,IMO it's the worst mod I have done on my truck,now I am stuck with it.

i did a 2 inch on mine and i wish i would have never done it i busted 4 of the 6 cab mounts

You are never stuck with anything. I plan on removing mine after the next set of tires. I have 35's now and I am going down to 33's. It is easier to take off than it is to put on....

dito. your never stuck with anything. If you do it yourself it's cheap. If you have to pay someone it makes it that much worse. That money can get you started on a proper suspension. BL is by far the worst mod i have done. It has given me the biggest headaches, with minimal gain. But to answer your question. You either have to cut the shifter then weld the extension in. OR pull off the leather boot and cut the rubber seal and frame around it. If you cut the shifter you increase the distance the handle travels to shift. Long Throw shifter. I always recomend skipping that part. Plus its easier to remove the BL

I have a 2" BL and have never had a problem with it. I didn't do anything to the shifter. The boots still fit fine and there's no problem reaching it.

I instaled it by myself....took like 8 hours,the 2 guys that promised to help me did not show. And being that it was my first body lift,it was a major pain in my ass,maybee thats why I fear taking it off....the horror memories of putting that evil bitch on has scared me from taking it off!

Well,best of luck to you. But just to let you know,some of the older members warned me before I put the BL on,of how I would not like it ect.,ect.,But I did not listen,wanted the extra lift to fit the bigger tires too(34x10.5's),but I did not listen....Now,I could kick my self in the ass for not listening to them.

i cant take mine off i have a bar under my hood that spans from one shock tower to the other and with out the body lift the hood wont clear it

you can put a short throw kit on the shifters to shorten the throw of the shafts. that should keep them from hitting anything (at least that's the idea).

also, instead of welding an extension, you can just by a screw in extension. RB sells them: http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/BodyLiftKit.shtml

The screw in extensions are easy fix to make it longer. The reason you cut it were you cut it is to make it extend through the shifter seal. The cut is below the bend on the shifter. With the extension the shifter will still hit the rubber seal and not work without trimming. short shifts are nothing but trouble.

if you fuck around with your boot over your shifter you dont need to and it makes it shorter....myself, i like it, everyone else i know likes it too.

nope. i just redrilled my boot bracket or whatever the hell its called, back alittle and cut some of the boot and it works fine, you just got to play with it alittle.

I think if you get a body lift you need to make sure it is from Roger Brown. So far i have not heard any major complaints from guys that used his lift. And BTW i did 2" lift and didn't install an extension. It seems a little weird at first ,but is no problem once you get used to it.
