why is it that many of the SAS'ed rigs will run a remote resovior shock? I thought the reason for these shocks were to deal with heat better in a faster driving environment where the shock will compress and decompress many times in a given time period than a rock crawler will.

I suppose that the 'feel' that a fresh shock can give when going through some god forsaken boulder pile will justify it. Or, some shock builder only has the valving they seek in a reservoir style shock. Or, to the poseur, they are better looking. I am willing to bet that as hard as the rock guys pound their trucks, they feel the extra dampening of the reservoir shock is worth it. AS much as they spend on u joints and such, they are entitled to it.

A resovoir shock gives you additional fluid and cooler running.
