Shocks

A buddy of mine was going to get the toytec lift. He wanted me to get opinions about some shocks. Has anyone heard anything about the Rancho RSX's. I know that the bilstein 5100 series is on backorder everywhere, but what about the 5150. Are they worth the extra money? Also, what size shocks would he be needing to get because I have no clue?

Oh yeah, any other recommendations?

i know some guys that run the ranchos and havent heard them really complain. personally im running the 5125's and like em.

as far as shock measurement the best way would be after you install the lift, jack up one side of the axle to full flex, measure shock mount to shock mount, do the other side, measure and youll have the measurements youll need.
ive got the 5125's also and theyre great

i just ordered some 5150..because of the 5100s in backorder...paid about 48 more...will put them in dec 20th...will leave feed backs as soon as i get them on..
A good alternative to Rancho RSXs are Skyjacker Nitro shocks. Part number is N8027. I have them and love them, they are comparable to Rancho, but often cheaper.
which bilstein is the softer shock? the 5150 or 5125 or 5100? im putting a toytec lift on with fabtech AAL in the rear. itll be a little tight in the rear so i want a softer shock.
anyone know the softer one??

I know that I have heard some bad comments about the ranchos... i have bilstein 5125's sitting in my garage about to be put on my truck... I've heard good things about them, but who knows until you sit in the truck over some rough railroad tracks for the first time... :-D
I have heard some good things about the Old Man Emu shocks, but not that many people seem to run them. When I was deciding between a Jeep and a Taco, I was on some Jeep boards and a whole lot of those guys swear by OME stuff. I ordered a set of OME shocks, but they haven't arrived yet.

I don't know much about shocks, but OME's are low pressure shocks, not the high pressure type that you usually see. OME's site hints that they'll last longer due to that, but I don't know if there's any truth to that.
Ive had the 5150's on the truck and now i run the 5125's, the 5150's i had were the heaver valved ones that i used temporartly while waiting on my 5125's. i think with the lighter valving the 5150's would be great. however i do have the 63" chevy springs out back so that probably makes a difference...
