hey fellas, i have a couple of questions here first i have a 98 taco extra cab and a 3.4 non trd. i have a 3inch corn fed spacer lift. i want to get a bumper like a tjm or cbi offroad. will this cause my front end to sag. im not going to get a winch at least not any time soon.[wife said no lol]. also i cant decide betwwen cbi off road fab.com or the tjm. have the cash just cannot make a decision so any oppinions would be great. the cbioffroadfab.com one is on page 2 of the taco sfront bumpers if you want to check it out. also by sagging i dont mean 2 or 3 years from now i mean sooner. if its later i can live with that,i dont wheel it hard either if that makes any diffrence. thanks guys

depending on how heavy it is, it will sag more and sooner. with the spacers you might be ok, since they stiffen up the suspension, but i'm not sure

Hey man, I am kinda biased since all of my protection has been built by Steve at CBI Off-Road Fab. But I say go with CBI. He does excellent work and backs it up. Also very nice bumper you picked out. It is not mine but styled somewhat from what mine is. So I guess my vote is for the CBI bumper... And as far as the front end sagging, you should be fine with the spacers in there, but even if you don't get a bumper, be sure to loosen all the bolts that have the A-arm bushings in them, upper and lower and bounce on the truck a few times to loosen the bushings up and get them to rotate to the new position and then tighten them back up or just the tension on the bushings will slowly start to wear the bushings out and actually pull your truck down so it will start to sag. But the weight shouldn't be a problem, I never had a serious sagging problem until I went to the OME springs...

oh man i saw your truck on the web site BAD ASS! does that bumper bolt straight on? i have heard stories of people ordering custom bumpers and having fitment issues. thus is the reason i was considering the tjm. also i cant decide betwwen tjm style or tube style like cbi. also thanks for the tip on my suspention. also do you tink my truck will look funny with that bumper and only 32s or 33s? later man

My bumper is direct bolt on. But I just took my truck up to him and we built it together. As long as he builds the bumper for a straight truck from a straight truck it should fit just fine. Where are you at? I am actually going to have a new one built and get rid of my factory plastic or maybe just add to mine, I have set it up there a few times with the plastic gone and it actually looks really good. But I would like to get another one made and have it welded to the truck and become part of an exo-cage. Steve just got done doing another tacoma front bumper for a guy in California that drove out here to have him built it and weld it to the truck. So watch for some more pictures of yet another CBI bumper. The guy used to have an ARB front bumper so maybe I can have him post some before and after pics and that would help you out in the decision of flat steel or tube....

also i forgot what size tires do you have
I am running 35's right now, may actually go back down to 33's but if I do, it will be down to 33x13.50R17 Interco Irok Radials....

Ohh and the bumper that Steve just got done building for BlingTaco.... is fricken sweet!!! I have some pics of it from when he got to our place last night, but it was dark and they didn't turn out to well. I did tell him about this post though and he said that he would try and get some good pictures in the daylight and he said that he has alot of his truck with the ARB on it so that may be a good comparison for you to see the plate bumper look verses the tube bumper look....

the tjm i looked at was the basic one not the bull bar bumper, ill liked the tjm but the one i looked at didnt have any tow points on it and when i asked the people about it they said it wasnt strong enough to attach one to,

ive heard of people having issues with the tjms coming loose and rattling at the mounting brackets, ive also heard they arent as strong as other bumpers on the market,

but thats all word of mouth i have no prof my self

He makes some nice custom bumpers. Check the site if you like his work, e-mail him or call him. His name is Josh, and is Bentyota on the AZ board. I made his website, and he made my rear bumper. Anyways, thought I would put that option in there for ya.
