today i was out wheelin with a blown cv boot which wasnt a good idea and im not sure if that was even the reason for what happened but somthing sure broke. i pulled up to a pretty steep hill in 4 low and as soon as i was giving it gas going up the hill i heard a pop and then every few seconds a clunk. It only happens in 4 wheel drive so it must have to do with the front diff or the half axle or somthing. anybody have a guess at what happened.

I could be wrong but it sounds like you broke a CV. Check under the boot for broken pieces/parts.

then the noise should continue since everything still turns with ADD. grab the axle shaft and try shaking it up/down. It should be nice and tight. any movement in the outer joint other than with the movenment of the suspension is not good...blown outer. The same goes for the inner. it slides in and out but should not move side to side. If the axles are good then it might be internal in the diff.
