So the other day I was thinking of ways to keep my air breather from getting wet everytime i get into anything deeper than my hubs, and i came up with this:

It's an old metal bowl i stole from the cabinet. I cut it the width of the filter and put it between the bottom pan and the filter. I still need to do some cutting and finish making it a complete seal so it's water tight, but here it is:

Yeah but what happens when water is splashed around and lands inbetween the filter and the bowl. Its a good idea but I thought I'd throw that up there:D

ha, ya I never thought of that little bit.

Well thats why I posted this before trying it!

I think its a good start, you should test it out before scraping the idea. If it does hold water, you could drill some holes around the bottom so stuff can drain out. And if you really want to get in to it you could make some flaps to act like one way check valves.
