I'm going to be getting 4 hella lights for a light bar on top of my truck pretty soon. I was wondering what the difference was between the light spread between the square/rectangle lights versus round ones. I was thinking about 2 driving lights in the middle, and 2 fogs flanking those middle ones.

ditto on the fogs up there. check into the new "cornering" lens configuration.

i do a lot of trails with lots of switchbacks/close brush. That's why i was thinkin the fogs to illuminate the sides of the trail, and driving for straight ahead. What do u think?

As hytenor said, if you're wanting to mount them up top and want to illuminate the sides of the trail, look into the "cornering" lens configurations. Also, could get regular driving lights (round or square) and angle them to the sides.

i was sorta thinkin about angling the fogs to the sides...the whole goal was to get relatively cheap lights, as i have a feeling they are gonna get snagged occasionally on low hanging trees, etc.

then don't even bother with hella fogs. get some of their 4" flood lights for $7ea. I use them for bed/backup lights and they put out a ton of short range light. If the break, who cares ;) you can get them from 4Wparts.
