What's up all? Here's the situation - my 99 Taco x-cab is stalling out when I try to start it. This doesn't happen all the time, and in fact, sometimes when it does want to stall and I give it some pedal the idle will kick in and then be fine. Mostly happens on the first start in the morning. Starter is fine, New Optima, and the alternator is fine. Help. Thanks in advance.

So you don't even think it's an electrical problem, huh? Any way to test either the feul pump or the pressure reg. Thanks.

mine does the same thing, only if i start it after i turn if off. like if i go to the store and run in to buy something and some back like 2 minutes later to re start it. the engine will start and sputter and stall out. i just give it some gas and put it in gear and its fine. i posted here a while ago about it and nobody really had an answer, anyway hope you get some info

let's hope some more people chime in - hint hint. Hopefully AK98TACO will respond. I guess it could be a feul starvation problem but who knows. More info please. Later.

Well, it could be the fuel pump circuit, the fuel pump, or the fuel pressure regulator. The regulator may have an issue with maintaining residual pressue, which would make starting or idling off of the start difficult.

What engine do you have? You might have a pulsation damper that maintain pressure, and the pressure can be checked there.

What up AK? I've got the 3.4. I'll look in the manual for some more info on the FPR. Thanks so far.

The pressure regulator is to the driver side rear of the intake manifold plenum.

It's vacuum modulated, meaning that it maintains a constant pressure that is above the manifold absolute pressure.
