One of those few hours a month projects hopefully I can get them finished by july. Who knows though:rolleyes: I cut them to in inch about the body line and they follow that. Going to try to keep both door latches. Get them Painted silver, and then try to make some sweet soft covers out of some carbon race sail pieces of fabric that's just collecting dust in the basement:D.
Going to make a big shelf on the inside to stow my windows after I make them.

The thing I haven't really though of is how to do the hinges without buying speed ones. Im thinking of torching out the pins and just getting some pins that slide in:flamethro

Coming alone nice and slow:D

I just notched one of the holes on each hinge and leave the bolt half way out and lift them off.

The top hole.

I will take some more pics when I get better progress. I have only cut them out so far and I got the material to patch them back up (thanks swap shop at the dump:D) Sweet metal cabinets will be the liner. I also found some 3" exhaust scraps to use on the corners.

Dell: I don't think that I would use them a lot if I don't cover them with some sort of soft cover. Im going to get them to be relatively weatherproof I can rock them from spring to fall. I will only have to worry about having my truck basically unlocked all the time:suicide:

I like those cut away door vinyl covers as well...

But possibly something different !?

just a thought...

What if ya used a sheet of lexan
and cut that to size (patterned) off the openings in the door...
put a rubber seal along the entire edge of the lexan...
Then use Dzus fasteners to retain those to the doors ?

I'd think keeping all lines of sight free of obstructed view
would be something worth considering.

Stowing the windows might be more challenging then rolling up the vinyl stuff.
But a thin lexan could be rolled up somewhat as well I'd think ?

Maybe they would be so cool looking... you'd never want remove them !? :p

That's pretty sweet and easy no sewing required. The only thing is like you said stowing that would be a bitch. Looks pretty slick though.

Think I may not get these done before july:eek: Looks like we gota replace a diesel generator on 1 sailboat I race on... Before we race it to Bermuda in a few weeks.

So I have been so busy that I havnt really had anytime to work on these... But i found the material for my soft doors...
Blew up a nice Kevlar racing sail last night. So looks like i will use blingy gold Kevlar, i may even cut them so i get the blue and redstripes or the numbers:D. Im not sure how UV friendly it will be but its free so if it starts to degrade in a year ill just buy another material.

Looking good Cape, I love my half doors!! Im sure you've seen them on here.

I was gonna do something for the window but I have my factory full set too with the 4x hinges......I havent swapped them in 3 years lol. if anything I end up going doorless. But its not a DD rig anymore but when I did DD it with the half doors on and it rained...it doesn't come in when you're moving. Talk about some weird looks I got.

Good luck with the build, looking great so far!!
