So Ive had the nagging problem of somewhat loose steering and have not had a clue where to start or what to do to fix it...my truck started runnin rough in the higher rpms and upon popping the hood, it stood out to me for some odd reason--there is a rubber bushing/grommet where the steering conencts to the smaller rod that comes out of the steering box. Anyone know of a part number for this rubber piece!?

Rag Joint.

If it is worn you can replace it. There may be a U joint replacement for that as well, but never looked into it. My suggestion is to verify that it is worn before replacing it. There are a lot of moving parts in the steering system. Your looseness could be a variety of things.
