I just purchased a Surco Safari rack, but the spacing of the Thule bars on my cap don't line up to mount it correctly. Either the front or back will line up fine, but then the other lines up with the plates on the side of the rack. Has anyone ever had this occur, and if so, what was your fix? I'm debating on trimming away at the plate for it to mount correctly, or trying something else to mount it. I just don't know which to do.

How about relocating the thule bar to the right spot? I assume you used a raingutter bracket for the topper so just add another one if it's not in the way of something else.

The bracket is bolted directly to the shell. The only way of moving it is to drill new holes in the shell and remounting the foot bracket.
