I purchased some used Cornfed 3" spacers from Tacoma2 for $90 shipped in this thread: http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4701

He said he was trying to sell them for a buddy and gave me this address to send the money order to:

Lindsay XXXX
XXXX XXXXX XXXXX
Stow, OH 44224

I sent out a USPS money order for $90 on Feb. 15th, 2005, 1 month ago (I have the receipt).

He claims to have received the money order on Feb. 25th, 2005, 10 days later (not completely unbelieveable).

He really lagged on shipping them out and he finally claims to have shipped them on March 5th , 2005: "Hey bud, sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I had to take a last minute trip to Chicago for training. The spacers Are going out today. I will send you an email with the tracking number once they are on there way."

That is the last message I have received from him and I have sent hime 3-5 more PM's since that date with no response.

Tacoma2 has no email address that I can use to contact him, only PM's through TTORA.

It is ridiculous that it is 1 month later and still no spacers. If I do not hear from him by the end of this week, I will seek to file a complaint with the local postal inspector for mail fraud.

I hate to do this in a public forum, but when someone leaves a buyer hanging like this with no contact, it is to be expected. I recommend that no one ever buy anything from Tacoma2.

Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated. I have all PM's and dialogue recorded as evidence.

Still have not heard from him since Friday March 18th when he said that he would ship them out the 19th. A very nice member of the forums has offered to go by and get them from Tacoma2 and ship them to me (I would insist on paying shipping of course) because he is local to Stow, OH. I'm waiting until next week before doing anything, but I'm quickly losing my patience.
Man you have WAY more patience than I. I would have filed a mail fraud complaint two weeks ago. If someone accepts money they need to ship it. Bottom Line. Letting somone get away with crap like this is only going to lead to someone else getting screwed.

Sorry to hear about all this.

That's exactly how I feel, but certain people here convinced me (somehow) to wait a week or two longer. I've just about had it. It has been way too long.
Guys, this is one of the problems inherent with buying things on the internet. You can be anyone, anywhere, and say anything you want without fear of consequences. Good luck getting your merchandise and ask around about a guy before you buy from him in the future....I know, I know, hindsight is 20/20. I have been burned before as well......

It also helps when someone points out that the obvious has been pointed out by someone else.

Well, with the help of another member, we found out that the address Tacoma2 had me send the money order to doesn't exist:

Lindsay Jones
4376 Elmhurst Dr.
Stow, Oh 44224

I'm not sure what to do, I haven't heard from him since 3/18/05. All I have is the above address (supposedly his friend's address) and his AOL email address. I'm going to contact my local postal inspector, but I'm not sure how we would find him without more info. Any suggestions would be great. I'm just glad that it was only $90, but I'm not giving up yet. If anyone sees this guy's Tacoma, run it off the road!

In this thread, he says he come to TTORA from TOR, what is TOR? Maybe I can find more info over there, wherever it is: http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3691

I found out that he claims to be a Hyandai mechanic, "Trust me - if you were to be a Hyundai mechanic like me, you learn how to fix these issue quick.
Bobby" http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5325

I searched and found out that he has a '98 Taco with 3" easy-lift spacers and a 3" body lift, likely still has stock 31's on it in or near Cuyahoga Falls, Oh.

Tacoma2 is definitely scamming me. Any suggestions?

I'm thinking of calling all of the 5 Hyundai dealers withing his area and asking if they have a mechanic named Robert or Bobby from Cuyahoga Falls.

Chalk it up as a learning experience. At least you didn't lose much money. I looked at those threads, and he was definitely posting from an AOL account, although I doubt you will have much luck trying to find out who he is from AOL.

If he pops up here again he will certainly have zero credibility.

Maybe he's not intentionally trying to scam you, some people are just really retarded and slow when it comes to shipping stuff.

To all sellers.... If you are selling something, have it boxed up and ready to ship as soon as you get your money. I get bent when I have to wait forever for my shit.

Here's what I know.

4376 Elmhurst Drive is an actual address.

The full address I have is 4376 Elmhurst Drive, Stow Oh, 44224-2761.

The only name associated with the address I can locate is John Boyle.

This may not be your guy since a) he seems to go by Rob/Bobby, and B) I found another address for him which shows he has been there since 2003.

E-mail address is [email protected]

IP is 152.163.100.199

I can work it some more later today and get you more info, but I have some work I need to do first.

TOR is Toyotaoffroad.com
I contacted the admin of TOR.

No such luck, not a registered member.

File a claim via USPS, and chalk it up as an expensive lesson in experience.

You may be able to dispute the Money Order is paid by credit card.

This is interesting! I will drive down Elmhurst again Saturday but there was no house number 4376, and the Summit County Auditor agrees (no such property). But I'll check again, perhaps it was my Easter fog playing tricks on me.

Conveniently there is a Hyundai dealership a few minutes away from Stow, I can stop by there, that Taco should be pretty obvious.

Let's be clear: Bobby who facilitated the sale is not the fellow who got the money or had the spacers. I don't *think* he should be the object of everyone's scorn. Lindsay is the one who had the spacers. Chris, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Why is everyone saying chuck this up to experience? This low life needs to be screwed to the wall. I would start calling the Haundi dealers. Also AOL should have a credit card number for this guy, i dont think you can start an AOL account with out one. If you cant get the feds can. If he really scammed you then he probably scamed somone else. I have sold and bought a TON of stuff online and never had a problem. If you make it easy for people like this there will be more of them.

Let me know what I can do to help.

Joe, that would be a great help if you would try to find a Bobby or Robert with a Tacoma that works at that Hyundai dealer. Although they are supposedly Lindsay's spacers, I fully blame Bobby because he is the one that made the deal with me and he is the one that has not kept up his end of the bargain. It is Bobby who said he would ship them to me, he never mentioned that Lindsay would do anything.
TOR is Tennessee Off-Road. They have a forum, it is tennesseeoffroad.com then message boards. Maybe this helps. If it does turn out that he is from tennessee for some reason let me know. So if that address doesn't exist, who got the money order???
OK, I got a PM from Bobby to give him a call ASAP. I guess that it was his friend Lindsay who was emailing me the whole time (besides the actual sale) and was signing the messages as Bobby. Well, Bobby has been away at training and I guess his friend was supposed to send them and never did. He is sending them out tomorrow and will call me with the tracking number, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt one more time. As long as I get my spacers, I won't file any claims. I told him he could give his side of the story here, but as he was the one that made the initial sale, I don't care that his friend was the one that didn't send them out. He seemed mad that all of this was being said about him in the forums, but I think we are all in agreement that it was justified because I had no idea what was going on and it is his responsibility to keep in contact with me when I have given him my money.

He is also going to send out Hornito's springs that he bought.

I have bought literally hundreds of items over the internet from people I do not know and this is the first time I have ever had any trouble with a seller.

I'll let Tacoma2 tell his side of the story, but for me it does not excuse what has happened.

On a side note: thanks to all of you who have PM'ed me offering to help me find Bobby or go and try to pick up the spacers, I really do appreciate it and would like to return the favor if you ever need anything here in Utah.

Let's hope this ends peacefully.

Oh well. Maybe he has learned that if you're gonna sell stuff you shouldn't fuck people. I doubt anyone here will do business with him in the future.

You can't just call up AOL and say "Member X" screwed me, give me his information.

Furthermore, you can't just call up the Feds and demand that they call AOL and research this. Despite your idealistic views here the Feds have much more interesting things to work on. A $90 claim isn't going to get you anywhere without a retarded judge and an awesome lawyer.

Sheeeit, you need to watch more TV so you know how "the law" works. :)
