It attaches onto the throttle body and supposedly causes the air and fuel to mix more efficiently through the use of a swirling medal channel. This is supposed to increase engine performance. . . . . But many people (especially on this board) believe it is a gimmick and absolutely useless. . . .

I have never seen absolutely conclusive evidence one way or the other.

On some vehicles a throttle body spacer will give you a very slight increase in throttle response because it gives the air more of a "runway" or more room to swirl or whatever.
