don't know about 04's, but haynes manual for 95-00, says 20 ft-lbs. hope that helps.

That's strange, my chilton manual states:

11-15 ft lbs for a tapered seat plug, and for a plug with a crush washer, to seat the plug, then tighten 1/4 turn to crush the washer.

I'm so confused

Just go by feel and make sure to sparingly hit up the plug threads w/ antisieze.

go by feel means:wHen the torque needed to keep tightening the plug starts to exponentially rise is the point at which you should stop.

20 ft-lbs is a little rich. I always thought the washer was crushed good around 15. BUt you got some fudge factor there, probably.

I hate helicoils, tho, so watch it..

Let me know if you notice any gas mileage increase. Ive installed iridium plugs in airplanes and they do wonders as far as performace is concerned. The bottom plugs near the exhaust valves can get so caked up with chit and they will still perform like nothing was even fowling up the plugs. I removed a bottom plug from a twin engine and the oil rings were shot so the plug was filled with oil and the engine ran perfectly normal. I know our engines and much more high tech than aircraft engines but im courious if they will make any difference. Sorry for the long post and good luck.
