It's actually the fan clutch, not the fan itself.Tacoma418 said:I have an 04' 5-speed 4x4 non-trd Tacoma and just recently got a trailer hitch for it. I was wondering what does the "towing package" for the tacoma consist of, I think the only difference is a different cooling fan...???
Thanks
Getting a bigger truck. The Tacoma could probably handle that weight but it wont be happy.Tacoma418 said:I have a V6 and I will be towing a 6k lb boat around 10-15 miles, only a handful of times a year... what would you guys reccomend??
might be all right without the hd fan clutch that is part of the tow package. 6,000lbs is a lot for a tacoma to tow, got a bigger truck or a buddy who will tow it for you? I wouldnt want anyone to pull out in front of me with that much weight behind me, hope your boat trailer has brakes.Tacoma418 said:I have a V6 and I will be towing a 6k lb boat around 10-15 miles, only a handful of times a year... what would you guys reccomend??
I thought the towing package got a different trans cooler & rear springs also?Tacoma418 said:I have an 04' 5-speed 4x4 non-trd Tacoma and just recently got a trailer hitch for it. Cant tell ya about the trans cooler (I got a 5 spd), but the springs are the same.Uneasy Rider said:I thought the towing package got a different trans cooler & rear springs also?
I would worry more about the swerving. Anyone can get a trailer with breaks, but for our 3700 lb truck to pull a 6000 lb boat,… wow. The factory manual actually says the combined weight of the truck and trailer should not exceed 9K lbs. Now our trucks curb weight is 3700 add driver and passengers and tools and the rest of the stuff and you are well over the recommended weight even if it was a 5K lb load on the trailer.JMacs2004 said:I would be pretty wary about towing 6k. You might have the power to get going, but will you have the power to stop? Kinda' like 4wd will get you going through a lot more snow and ice, but you won't be able to stop any quicker.
