I have been trying to get the filler part that goes under the headlight on my 96 Tacoma. I ordered one from this web page;

http://www.trademotion.com/partloca...=1996&graphicID=8510020&callout=5&catalogid=2

The part they shiped me is for a 98-00 and not a 95-97. The part I got is part number 52513-35010 They are telling me that this is the part number they have on the books for a 96 and so its my problem. Can anyone tell me the correct part number I need? Why is it always the 11 dollar parts that are a huge pain the ass?

Thanks,

Chris

Chris, that's not entirely accurate. What Barb said was that the part number the catalog showed (52513-35010) was correct for your year truck. No one ever said "it's your problem".

Actually, Barb asked you to call her back when you had the part with you (apparently when you called you didn't) and you said you'd call back.

You didn't call (unless it was after 6PM CST).

Barb really needs the number that is on the part itself, as sometimes things get mis-boxed at either the factory or mis-shipped at the shipping department. We have always bent over backwards to resolve any issue with parts, and will continue to do so for you.

52513-35010 is the correct number. That is why it is imperitive you please call back when you get the part in your hand so we can verify what was shipped.

I don't know, it just seems that way :)

Chris,

I first ordered this part over a month ago. The first time I oredered it my order just got lost. I never got a confirmation or anything. After 2 weeks of waiting I re ordered and finally got the part. I called yeterday morning at about 8am or so and who ever I talked to told me that they needed the part number off the packing slip. I drive home and got it and then called back and talked to barb and she told me that she needed the part number off the part. I felt like I was totally get the running around. I just called back and no one answered. I dont have access to a phone at work when I am on the job site so can you follow this up? The part number on the part I got is 52513-35010. The filler peice I need should have an arch on one side and the peice i got has two paralel ends. I have a 96 and the part i got is for an 98-00

You are correct that I was never told specificly that it was my problem, just got that impression when I called twice yesterday. I just want to get the right peice so I can sell my truck and get a new one.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,

Thanks for the clarification. Barbara and myself both checked seperately and found no order from a month ago. Our records indicate that this was the first order ever received from you.

If you did not receive a confirmation, then the only thing I can guess is that you didn't complete the checkout procedure. I have had my IT people backtrack through the system and it is functioning correctly. I do not know why your order wasn't placed or received...

This order was received on March 22nd and shipped March 22nd. I do not want you to have the impression that you were getting the run around; we work very hard to quickly and accurately fill every order. I also do not want you to think that any of these inquiries have any bearing on returning your part. Our policy is and always has been that we stand behind our sales.

Barb has left a message for you this morning. She is arranging pickup of your part, at no expense to you, as is our policy.

Now for the 'wassup'.. You have discovered an error in our online catalog. After researching the part, we have found that the correct part number for a 4WD should be 52513-35020 (not -35010). We are correcting our database now.

In the interest of getting you taken care of promptly, the correct part will be sent out today for overnight delivery, so you should have it in the morning. Barb will email you a tracking number this afternoon when it ships.

I apologize for the mix up Chris, and for any inconvenience this has caused. I also apologize for the inconvenience caused by Stephanie errantly asking for the number off the packing slip vs. the part. I can only guess that she assumed the part, the box and the packing slip would all be together. I assure you she didn't intentionally mean to inconvenience you.

In the future, any questions or concerns can be best addressed via email so we have a paper trail, or you can email me at [email protected] or call me direct at 972-852-0180.

Thanks for your understanding.

I dont know if it helps any. But I ordered the first time the same day as this post.

To be honest I didn't realzie that TRDPARTS4U.COM was the same as the web page I ordered from. Me posting here wasn't to taddle on you or anything, I just wanted to get the correct part numbers so when I called back I could be informed. I didn't know I was dealing with someone from TTORA.

I have ordered parts from TRDPARTS4U.COM before and always been impressed by the service, but I would just email what I needed and get it shiped. I never went to the web. As for the orginall order, who knows. It could have been a problem on either end.

I was just getting pissed because when you add the delayed order, getting shiped the wrong part, and being told that the part I had was the correct part when I know it wasn't all together it led me to belive that I was dealing with a less than reputable dealer. Had I known that TRDPARTS4U.COM and TRADEMOTION.COM were the same I wouldn't have given it a second thought.

Thanks for all you help, and thanks for resolving this.

Chris

Yep got the part last night. Its the correct one. Going to paint up tommrow. Thanks for all your help!

Just once again I wanted to say that I didn't know that Trademotion and TRDParts4U were the same. My only intention in posting here was to get the correct part number. I wasn't trying to taddle on anyone or anything.

Thanks for helping me work all this out. Well you say thanks to your wife also.

No problem, everything's cool! :)
FYI for anyone else that reads this thread, the website in reference is our new Wholesale Toyota Mechanical parts & Wholesale Toyota Body parts site www.toyotapartsales.com which complements our other website www.trdparts4u.com. www.trdparts4u.com primarily deals with TRD Parts & Accessories, Toyota Maintenance Parts and Toyota Accessories. Trademotion is actually the underlying catalog engine that drives the website and appears in the links.

This is a very interesting situation. Why do so many places have the wrong years on their parts lists?

For example, a while back I decided to order a Westin Safari Bar for my 99 Prerunner (not from you so don't worry!). Their online catalog said the part I needed for my model was for a 97-2001. Welll, I know for a fact that the front ends were changed in 2001.
I contact them and they said it weas right. I checked the Westin web site and sure enough, their list was incorrect!
So I told them which Westin part number I should receive. Well, they sent me the part their system said was correct. After three mailings, I finally received the correct part!

That is just pure sloppiness on the part of the reseller! If they are half way knowledgeable in Tacomas, they would know that there was a major change in 2001!

Unlike Chris most places only go by what they have in the computer and will not try to help you out. Quality service isn't something you get often any more it's more about getting you in and out the door. So when you find a place that will acually put the effort into helpping you out be thankfull for them. In Chris's case almost all of my tacoma parts will come from him from now on even if I have to drive 10 hours to Dallas to get them.

A years ago I was in need of an oil filler cap for an 89 s10. I had to go to 10 differant auto parts store and one dealer to get the proper cap. My local dealer even swore up and down that I had a push in cap. When I knew for certain it was a twist in cap. It was one of those deal where you went to the gas station and filled the oil up and checked the gas, lol.

This list of things could go on for ever

called a good year dealer once for a set of 33/12.50/16.5 tires for my 85 ford 3/4 ton 4x4 and was told there was no such tire size, but they had some 33/12.50/16's they'd sell me.
