If I have a factory hitch, does removing the harness disable my taillights? I have a new bumper with a built-in hitch receiver and am getting ready to install it with a new harness. I'm having trouble disconnecting the old one. I'm afraid to brake the truck side connectors. I don't want to unplug the old one to get my answer until I'm ready to the full job.

I'm not going to do anything thing until I finish painting my bumper. One move. Replace bumper and hitch wiring harness. 4XInnovations bumper weighs 70 lbs. I think. It'll be fun installing it myself.

Even at $1100 including shipping it was cheaper than Toyota. $470 bumper and $1400 hitch with harness! AND way more solid.

I'll answer back on what the taillights do when I get to it.

I checked the harness. The big black plug does not affect any of the rear lights (brake, reverse, turn signal etc.)

The big grey plug powers the 2 small ones that go to the license plate lights on the stock bumper.

So, with the trailer harness removed no major issue. Put on a temporary clip-on light for the plate.
