HELP!! I am trying to install the trailer wiring harness on a 04 Ext. Cab. The jackass at Camper City didn't have any instructions, but told me it was pretty self explanitory. Yea right. I looked at the wires going to my rear taillight and have 8, but my harness for the trailer only has four. Colors don't match at all. Can anyone please help?????

You will need a trailer wiring adapter- should be about $30 bucks from Walmart-
There should be a pigtail connector for a straight hook up
- I think is on the passenger side tail light

Go out and get a Hoppy's or one of the other "plug in" light adaptors. The crimp connector wiring kits always lead to shorts. Plug in takes 15 min and you cant do it wrong unless your trying to.

I just bought a trailer and need to install a trailer braking system. is a 99' wired for it or what is the trick. any other ideas would be greatly welcomed.
The 99's arent wired for trailer brakes, I dont think any Tacomas were factory wired for trailer brakes.
I had a Tow Master trailer brake system on my 99 but had lots of problems. It got so bad I took it off and dont run a trailer brake right now. One shop that looked at the system thought Toyotas may require a convertor for the brake signal, I didnt feel like being their guinea pig.
I know the trailer lights require a convertor that is included in most plug in kits.
