Alright, first off, clunk is probably not the right word. More of a bang I'd say. Anyway, I was on a hill, put my truck in first, and although it felt like it was all the way in gear, apparently it wasn't. When I hit the gas, RPMs shot up and made the bang/clunk sound. I then put it all the way in first and drove off. I'm guessing it just hopped out of gear. Should I be worried at all?

that sounds like it might be slipping. Does this happen almost every time you take off or was it a one-time thing?

If it has only happened that once, it would be that it wasn't in gear, but if this is a reoccuring thing, i would get it looked at. Maybe start by changing the fluid first.

Sounds like you only got a bit of the gears to mesh and it ended up popping out. I wouldnt be worried unless it keeps doing it.

One time thing. I figured it just popped out. I'm not worried about it. Thanks for the input.
