Anyone here ever change out a automatic transmission pump out of a tacoma. If so, I could use some advice on how to do this myself.

How do you know it's the pump? To answer your question I don't...

Automatic Transmissions are probably the most technical and hardest part to work on our trucks. Then if you don't get it right there is a lot of work involved in removing and installing the trans. Take it to a pro.

I'm doing mine for the second time now.

Basic troubleshooting has led me to the conclusion that the pump is bad. The transmission is out of the truck (no problem there, only about 1.5 hours of work) I pulled the torque converter and am staring at the pump with a fear of removing it and messing something up in the tranny behind the pump. I would really like to take it to a pro and not have to worry about it, but unless they could do it for 1/4 price that they have all quoted, my allotted funding will not allow that

1.5 hours? You must have a prerunner. I know what you mean about funding. I've got about $1600 in mine right now but that includes and IPT Valvebody upgrade. I wish I would've bought a used transmission the first time instead of trying to reuse mine.

Thomas,
Thank you so much for that. Big help. What transmission is that.
By the way, its not a prerunner, I have just pulled it a few times when I replaced my engine. My first time took a few days (with a lot of procrastinating)

You're welcome.

That is for the A340E/F.

You might find a replacement oil pump through NAPA, or contact a local transmission specialist and ask them where they order such parts from.

I could really use the rest of that manual. Where did you reference those pics from?
