I have a 98 4banger with a five speed and manual locking hubs and recently my transfer case craped out. I had a leak in the front output shaft, so I popped that open and replaced the seals but I noticed that the chain inside when turned didn't track properly. So I believe that my front drive chain is stretched some. So here is the problem the dealership here in Louisville, KY wants $500.00 and change just for a new chain.
Surely there has to be a better, cheaper way. What transfer cases will swap in from a junkyard? Does it have to be a 4banger and five speed xfercase or will they interchange? I know Toyota tends to keep things relatively the same so I was hoping to just swap in a junkyard one.
On that note does anyone know of any pick-and-pull yards in the Louisville area? or possibly someone who might know where I can get a used one shipped to me.
I figure if anyone knows these thing you guys will.

Awhile back I bought a t-case from another member for $250. Recently I saw one go for $150. Deals are out there.
