Transmission / Engine oil

Went to grease monkey on the week end and had them do a 18 qt. fluid flush. They said that I didn't need a filter change that the flush would clean it. I think they just didn't want to do it. My truck is a 2001 TRD V6 Dbl cab with 75,000 miles. Is this normal? I also did an oil change myself as I always do. Put in 5 qts. of oil, when I checked it after about 2 days it was at the bottom dot on the dipstick it this right?

Thanks for any help

Are you sure, those dots arnt like cold and hot checks?
read the owners manual.
I did and I thought it said 5 qts. I checked it at 4 a.m. and noticed. I'm at work now and was not able to look at other reasources.
V6 should use 5.7 gts or some BS. Most people, myself included have put in 6 quarts. The bottom line/dot is for low, the top line/dot is full. in between is safe...but I'd rather have mine full.
I agree with your thinking, thanks
5 is usualy without the oil filter being changed, it can hold up to 1/2 qt in it.. I use the larger Amsoil oil filter and 6 qts is just perfect.
I used a small oil filter Fram from Walmart
 FRAM!!!!! Run away! RUN AWAY!!

Please go find yourself a WIX or NAPA Gold(same) filter and use it.

Friends don't let friends use FRAM :xbarf: oil filters...

I agree completely. Look on the web for an oil filter comparison. They are amazing, and I'm sure you'll never even mention fram again.

Like OUTBACK said, stay away from the Fram junk. I'm on my last K&N filter now and will be using Toyota oil filters from now on. 1 of the sponsors is running a case of 10 Toyota filters for $42.22 shipped.

those are the full and 1 qt low marks, when in doubt the owners manual works pretty good.
OK, why? Whats wrong with the fram bouble gaurd?

Well, according to that site it's not as bad as the regular fram filter, but I agree with him - if people stop buying fram filters due to the bad quality (of the cheap one) maybe they'll start making them better.

I've just sworn off fram completely. I buy NAPA gold or OEM.
Are ALL Frams bad???
I have been using the Fram Tough Gaurd (TG3614) for a while with no problems, changing the oil every 3,500-4,000.

What are the issues?

Yikes, there is a loty of [email protected] out there. Luckily the fram TG, is not the worst of the lot, but I will definately switch to something else.
