Hi all. I attempted to get my locker to engage last night and was unsuccessful. Put truck in 4-lo, pushed locker button, drove the equivalent of several football fields, turned left, turned right, backed up. Nada. Just a blinking locker light. Even tried what the manual said and depressed clutch, pressed locker button, and slowly released clutch. Still nothing.

Is there easy access to an electrical connection on the diff that may need to be sprayed with some contact cleaner? I've only used the locker once in 45,000 miles, and that was to test it out. Havn't used it in probably 35,000 miles. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi There

You may want to read this thread from Yotatech. It will give you a lot of insight on how that locker actuator is set up and pics of what it looks like inside. Bottom line is, this guy couldn't get his to work, and it was because the internals of the actuator were all gunked up. He cleaned it all up, and it worked again. I don't know if there is any chance that you may have gotten a bunch of crud in there, but something to consider. You also might just want to check the wiring connections where the two wiring harness plugs attach to the actuator. Have you changed the rear diff oil? You could also do that and amke sure there are no obvious chunks/shavings of metal in the oil. The drain plug should have a magnet on it that metal will stick to.

Mine did the same thing. I pulled the drivers side kick panel off and you will see the module that you do the grey wire mod on. Just uplug the harness then plug it back in. I think mine just had a bad connection. But after I did that it started working. Good Luck.

I still got a problem

I read the thread on Yotatech and it didn't answer my questions. I got a 99 taco with the trd locker from factory, I've bought both the chiltons and haynes manual looking for the wiring diagram and nothing about the locker in either of them. I've checked all the pins back at the rear diff and I got no voltage at all testing between any wires, or wires to ground. I'm going to check up front at the location behind the kick panel and see if I have voltage there. if someone could help me out with a wiring diagram and some info on how it works, I'd be apriciated.
