A couple of weekends back, 23 of us from Washington, paid for Tread Lightly! to come certify us as "Tread Trainers". You can read more about that program HERE. We also have a page on our chapter site, HERE.

Just over half of those in the class were WATTORA officers/members, with the remainder being from the Forest Service, the Department of Natural Resources, State/National Parks, as well we a couple of folks from other clubs.

As a result of the training, we are all certified by Tread Lightly! to conduct Tread Lightly! training for other organizations/individuals, etc., both formally and informally.

It was a privilege for WATTORA to be able to organize the event and then to host it at the facilities of our sponsor, Toyota of Puyallup. We made some new contacts and some new friends, but more importantly, we increased the grassroots exposure to Tread Lightly! principles that folks on the trails up here are going to get.

We found this to be so valuable, that I would challenge other chapters to contact Tread Lightly! to arrange training for some of your members as well. Once you have a core of Tread Trainers, they can then train others.

At the bare minimum, please ask your members to take the Tread Lightly! Online Awareness Course. (CLICK HERE) ALL of us will benefit by spreading the word.

Thanks for listening.

We (the NorCal TTORA staff) have been working on getting this in our schedule for a few weeks now.

Everybody should be involved and attend this coarse if they can!
