Exactly what the title says...How do I get the lower C-Clip off the tripod joint. I get the screwdriver under it, but then it just wants to spin. Are there any tricks to make it not spin? Thanks.

Ok, now my problem is those damn clamps. How do I pinch that peice of metal to tighten the clamps. I have tried pliers, but they don't want to pinch. Thanks.

Is it just called a banding tool, or is there a more specific name for it. I am gonna run to the local hardware store to try and find one, but otherwise I will have to wait til tomorrow. Thanks.

Ok, went and got the tool and got the clamps taken care of. Now, when reassembling how do they expect me to put the bigger c-clip on. I can't even begin to seperate it. Or is there another special tool I need? Thanks.

Bigger C-clip? Can you be more specific?

On the tripod or tulip joint there are the two c-clips. I am talking about the one that is farther towards the wheel and is a lot thicker. Thanks.

No, sorry. The one I am talking about actually isn't shown in the picture, but it would be between the tripod and the inboard joint boot. Cause starting on the tulip end of the CV it goes snap ring, tripod, snap ring, cause the two snap rings hold the tripod in place. However, the snap ring i am talking about it way thicker than the other one making it hard to separate. Thanks.

It's doable without lock ring pliers but it takes a bit of patience. I used large snap ring pliers, flat heads, needle nose and linesman pliers. Don't remember what worked, but did both cv's , ball joints, etc. then found the lock ring pliers...

or u can just use a large hose clamp

I thought about that, but wasn't sure if the screw sticking up would get in the way of anything. I will probably go pick up some hose clamps to use on my spare CV's. Thanks.
